We traveled to Louisville, Kentucky, to celebrate our sister- and brother-in-law Ashley and Jesse as they prepare to welcome their baby boy. We are so excited to meet him when he arrives and I loved buying them gifts to make the transition better. It’s always a good time when we see family, and I absolutely adored Ashley’s aviation/travel theme baby shower. I’m sharing some of the details because I thought her airplane baby shower was so well done and might provide some inspiration for a baby shower of travel-loving parents-to-be. I have never seen this theme before and I thought the hosts were super creative!
Ashley’s best friends Sarah (who has her own Etsy shop where she sells crochet patterns and digital designs) and Kristina did an amazing job. The theme is important to my sister- and brother-in-law because they love travel and some of her family members worked in the aviation industry. The main decor was around the fireplace. Airplane and cloud balloons and an airplane banner that Sarah made surrounded the fireplace, where guests dropped their “luggage” aka gifts. A suitcase and “travel advice” post cards were set up on a table to the right.
If you would like an airplane banner like Sarah made, reach out to her on Instagram @sweethomekentucky and perhaps she can help you out!

Another table had a “Baggage Claim” sign and held goodies for guests to take home. The goodies were the typical airplane snacks of peanuts, cookies and pretzels in these airplane bags.

The food table was labeled “Inflight Snacks,” and guests enjoyed pretzels, pasta salad, sandwiches, fruit salad, corn dip and buffalo chicken dip with chips. We could also make mimosas (with or without the champagne) and fuel up with iced tea and water. A sign next to the beverages said “Jet Fuel.” We sipped our drinks in those small plastic cups we get on flights.

For dessert we had blue and white cupcakes that resembled fluffy clouds and the sky. The sign welcoming us to the shower was adorable and featured a hand-drawn airplane.
We played some of the usual baby shower games like cutting a string to guess how big her belly is and guessing the answers to parenting questions. The question cards were from FreeSpiritCrafting on Etsy. I didn’t do well at all at this game! haha
It was all so perfect. Can’t wait for the girls to meet their new baby cousin!
Would you know someone who would love the aviation theme? Congrats to the hosts for a job well done!
