Work has been crazy, so I haven't been able to share our experience camping in Sedona last weekend. A year ago we camped in the exact spot we went to Saturday, and it was just as lovely and relaxing this year. With our dogs in tow, we set off for Forest Road 525 near Sedona. We stopped to get a Red Rocks Pass without even realizing that the America the Beautiful pass we received as a wedding gift ... Read more
Road Trip to Devil’s Bridge and Montezuma’s Castle
I've been waiting for an adventure. Graham and I only had one day to get away. It was just enough time for some exploring. We went on a road trip to Sedona to check out Devil's Bridge. Find the trailhead on Dry Creek Road, which is accessible from Arizona 89A. We immediately learned how popular the trail is, especially on a 75-degree, sunny day. Hikers waved along our fun, bouncy ride to the ... Read more
Camping at Schnebly Hill
With the Perseid meteor shower set to illuminate the sky, Graham and I headed north to get away from city lights and hopefully see the show. We chose the campgrounds along Schnebly Hill Road, accessible via the I-17. Our first destination was Schnebly Hill Vista, which overlooks the Sedona area. You get there by driving down Schnebly Hill Road past the campgrounds. Along the bumpy drive you pass ... Read more
Wildflowers in Sedona

Few vehicles passed our site, mostly Pink Jeep Tours. You can camp on the left side of the road; most people didn't travel far on 525 to choose a campsite. But if you continue on 525 toward the Honanki ... Read more
Camping in Sedona
** This post contains affiliate links to camping supplies. Somewhere just off Forest Road 525 near Sedona, Graham and I found a gorgeous site for camping. It was so scenic that we found we were on the path on which many Jeep tours take tourists. We waved to passers-by as they admired our campsite. We just so happened to camp on a free weekend, but otherwise, be sure to get a Red Rock pass, which ... Read more
First Visit to Slide Rock State Park
Can you believe I've lived in Arizona my entire life and had never been to Slide Rock before last week? I crossed another Arizona destination off my list with a visit to this popular landmark, which was teeming with visitors, so many that each car had to wait until a car exited the parking lot to enter. (It didn't take long, maybe about 10 minutes.) I even cliff-jumped (scary): Cliff-jumping was ... Read more
