I want to savor every moment of my first fall in Chicago. I compiled a list of things I want to do this season, and they are all quintessentially fall (to me). I can’t wait to get started!
Here’s my plan: I’m hoping to visit the Chicago Botanic Garden before it gets too cold. Walking around the park to admire and take pictures of the changing leaves would also make for a perfect fall afternoon. The Art Institute of Chicago would keep us entertained on a colder day, while lazier evenings could be spent on the couch watching my favorite Halloween movies. I recently read a list of apple orchards within driving distance of Chicago, and I hope to go to one of them. I also don’t think I’ve ever been to a real pumpkin patch; it just never felt right in the Arizona desert. Of course, Graham and I always bake cookies and carve pumpkins, but this year I’d like to bake a pie or two as well and pair it with a hot apple cider. Never in my life have I been to a corn maze, and while it gives me a little anxiety, I still want to do it. And each year as Thanksgiving nears, I reflect on my life with gratitude for what I have. I will try to give back in any way I can.
You might notice picking out a Halloween costume is not on the list. It’s not an accident. I’m not really into dressing up. Maybe I will find a costume, maybe I won’t.
What do you plan to do this fall?
