It’s been about two years since I’ve shared a typical day in the life and since then things have changed drastically. If you’re new here, I work from home and my 11-month-old stays home with me. Some days I have my preschooler at home, too. We have a routine down now that makes juggling work and mom life much easier. I also play the role of household manager, which can make things overwhelming sometimes, but I find that having a schedule saves my sanity.
Here’s what a typical day looks like:
6:30 a.m.: Wake up with Addi and nurse. V is also awake and playing. Sometimes this happens at 5:30 or 6 lately.
6:45 a.m.: Hang out with the girls on my bed.
7: Change Addi’s diaper and take the girls downstairs. I give V breakfast and place Addi in the Pack ‘n Play while I quickly get ready.
7:15: When V is done with breakfast, I grab clothes for her and she gets dressed. We then brush her teeth and hair.
7:30 or 7:45: I prepare a bottle and grab breakfast snacks for Adelina and we all head out the door.
7:45 or 8: Drop V off at preschool. On some days I stop by Starbucks on the way home.
8:15: Make A and myself breakfast. By this time she has only had some yogurt bites or an apple.
8:30: Work.
9: Addi takes her first nap and I work.
11: Addi plays and I work.
12: Lunch with Addi. This is when I run any quick errands I need or catch up on dishes or other cleaning, too.
1: Work.
1:30 or 2: Addi’s second nap.
3 or 3:30: Pick up V from school (and sometimes Graham from the train station if he is off work).
3:30 or 4: Work and the girls play. If Graham is home he takes over at this point.
5:30: Start or eat dinner. I try to start it at 5, unless I am super busy with work, in which case I will start at 5:30. If Graham is home he will start dinner.
5:30 or 6: Dinner as a family.
6:30: Girls’ bathtime.
7-7:30: Addi’s bedtime routine and quiet playtime in girls’ room before she goes to sleep.
About 7:30: Blog work and/or clean up.
7:30 or 8: Gym or hang out with Graham.
8:30: Get ready for bed and do self-care routine. If needed, I will work on blog content. Every once in a while I might need to finish something for work.
9: Pump before bed.
9:30 or 10: Bedtime.
As you can see, I have a lot to fit in each day, but I just do the best I can. On days when V is not in preschool, I sometimes have help from a nanny, though it is not consistent. What does a typical day look like for you? Do you work remotely?
