If you want to eat more vegetables, but you don’t feel as though they’re as tasty or exciting as other types of food, you are not alone. But there are so many ways that you can spice up your veggies. How to make your vegetable more delicious:
Pair Your Vegetables With Cheese
Did you know that you can create your version of a caprese salad by simply adding some mozzarella and basil leaves? You can also sprinkle on some parmesan cheese on top of your vegetables. This will make your vegetables tastier, and it will also help you to increase your protein intake. Just remember not to add too much cheese; everything in moderation.
Add Some Tang
Did you know that you can also make your vegetables way more exciting by adding some lemon juice? When you add lemon juice to your vegetables, you can really bring out the natural flavor, and it will also give you a nice fruity zing. You can add lemon juice to your vegetables after you have steamed them, or you can add a lemon twist the next time you serve broccoli or even spinach.
Sauté Your Vegetables
You can also add a lot of flavor to your veggies by simply sautéing them. You can add mouth-watering infusions such as olive oil, garlic and a choice of herbs. If you don’t know what herbs to use, then you need to think about using thyme, basil or even oregano. If you want to spice things up, then why not think about slicing up some yellow and green squash. You can then add some mushrooms, diced tomatoes and onion. When you’ve done this, add some herbs and a few peppers. If you want a filling dinner, you can put all of this into a quiche crust and put it in the oven. Check out this quiche crust recipe by Veena Azmanaov to find out more.
Healthy Dipping
Another thing that you can do is experiment with healthy dipping. You can add raw vegetables such as cauliflower, broccoli or even celery and then combine them with hummus. Hummus itself can be eaten as a side dish.
Mix in Fruit
Another fantastic way for you to combine fruit and vegetables would be for you to use them in a salad. You can start by adding spinach along with halved cherries. When you’ve done this, add some sliced strawberries and some walnuts. If you want to add even more flavor, then you can easily add an orange vinaigrette. This will bind all of the flavours together, and it will give you a very intense flavor that will force you to rethink your opinion that vegetables are bland.
Things like this can help you to really make the most out of the vegetables that you have, and you would be surprised at how you could bring everything together. If you want to take things to that next level, invest in a spice rack so you can test out your own flavour combinations.
