I love to share gift ideas for all holidays and occasions that also give back. I don’t do this every time I buy a present, but whenever possible I like to buy gifts from companies that help others in some way. Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, and if you’re still shopping for something for a loved one and you also want to do some good in the world, you might enjoy these gift options:
- Adopt an animal in her name. WWF allows you to adopt an animal in someone’s name with various packages. Some include physical gifts such as a reusable bag or a plush animal, but you could also gift a virtual adoption. You can also choose the type of animal among many options. I know I would love to receive this as a gift because I’d know it’s helping wildlife and the environment, too.
- Toms sunglasses (or any other product): Toms is known for giving back with every purchase. When you buy sunglasses, Toms will help a person in need. It’s also a certified B corporation.
- Little Market This is About Humanity tote and candle: Half of proceeds given to the This is About Humanity Fund and International Community Foundation, which works closely to meet the needs of immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers who are affected by violence and instability in their home countries. Little Market also has a PurposeFull Tote, which benefits CARE, an organization that believes female empowerment is key to our global fight against poverty.
- Bright Endeavors candles: This Chicago organization employs young moms to make the soy candles. It provides guidance and job skills to help them secure employment and have a brighter future. They have a special edition Mother’s Day gift set that includes Fresh Bouquet Mini Signature, Water Lily Mini Signature, Black Currant Orchid Spa Tin, and Sugared Grapefruit Retreat Tin.
I hope these ideas inspire you to look for ways to give back with you purchases. Is it important to you to help others when you buy gifts?
