Now more than ever I am looking to support businesses that are giving back to their communities. With Mother’s Day approaching, it’s the perfect time to find a gift that is meaningful and special. Here are my ideas for Mother’s Day gifts that give back for 2020:
Love Your Melon clothing and items: Love Your Melon sells apparel, hats, accessories, home goods, dog items and more, and 50 percent of net profit from the sale of all Love Your Melon products is given to support charitable causes through the Love Your Melon Fund and the nonprofits it supports. All products are made in the U.S. and Canada.
CauseBox: Every season, members receive a limited edition curation of products from the leading socially conscious brands. Some of them are designed exclusively for CAUSEBOX.
Pura Vida bracelets**: I have a couple of Pura Vida bracelets that I love. Pura Vida is donating $1 to Feeding America for every order placed this month. Every dollar donated helps secure and distribute at least 10 meals to families in need through the Feeding America network of food banks.
Little Market soaps: These soaps are made by DWC, the social enterprise component of the Downtown Women’s Center in Los Angeles. DWC provides job training and transitional employment opportunities and teaches the essential skills and support needed to transition out of homelessness.
Prosperity Candle: These candles are handpoured by women artisans and refugees creating a brighter future in the U.S. The Certified B Corp. is donating 25 percent of all sales to Feeding America to support essential food services for communities in need during COVID-19. Choose from certain candles to support the cause. They have all sorts of gift sets and candles available.
Musee Bath products: According to their website, these bath products are made in Madison County, Mississippi. It hires women in recovery, individuals with disabilities and people who have not had the opportunities of education. Also, “A portion of our profits is invested to educate children, provide jobs and create resources that will inspire change in communities throughout the world.” Musee offers bath bombs, soaps, bath soaks, candles and gift sets.
I hope these provide some inspiration for companies to support that will help the community in some way, especially in these difficult times.
