I had never had my hair dyed at a salon before trying the Madison Reed Hair Color Bar for the first time to cover my grays. While I was nervous about my first service there, I was happy with my results! Here’s my experience:
I set my appointment online and chose the $60 roots service, which is an hour and 15-minute appointment. I chose to self-dry my hair afterward; scheduling a stylist blow-dry was an additional $30 and 15 minutes. Current COVID-19 protocols in the Chicago area mean that masks are required for the service. I arrived for my appointment and was immediately seated at a socially distanced chair. The stylist did my consultation and selected the appropriate color. (I went with Positano Black – 3NNA.)
She then began with the roots service. It was a comfortable experience and the place was spotless. There was only one other customer having a service at the same time, so it was also quiet. The stylist then sets a timer and you wait. When the timer goes off, you are walked over the the shampoo area. I loved the smell of the Madison Reed products they used in my hair. Lastly I was led to the drying station, where you find blow dryers and brushes.
By the way, you can also purchase hair color kits to use at home. They are now available at both Ulta and Target.
Overall, I liked my color and my hair was shiny and smooth. I didn’t experience any negative effects. I have since returned to get my hair touched up again.
