Chicago Botanic Garden’s Orchid Untamed makes a perfect outing with your best friend, family or partner. Graham and I visited on opening day for a pre-Valentine’s Day date. As garden members, we used our free admission tickets that we received in the mail. Here’s our experience at the show and the beauty you’ll find at Orchid Untamed.

The Chicago Botanic Garden began charging for admission this year vs. Charging for just parking. Be sure to buy your tickets ahead of time. When you arrive, walk over to the Regenstein building for the show and sale. I suggest browsing the show first before making any purchases at the Orchid sale.
You’ll find wild orchids of just about every variation in stunning displays. My favorite was the piano adorned with Flora.

Wander around the greenhouses and hallways at your own pace, snapping photos and admiring the blooms.

The variety and colors of the orchids are remarkable. It’s impossible to pick a favorite.

After the show, we checked out the Illinois Orchid Society’s sale, where we bought three plants to take home. The Orchid Society’s members showed off their own orchids and prizes at the show, too!
Orchid Untamed runs until March 27. You can go during the day until 4 p.m. or attend the evening after-hours event instead. Check the website for tickets and don’t miss out!
