It’s almost summertime Chicago, which means filling weekends to the brim with activities. This month my family and I went to Pixar Putt, which is in Polk Brothers Park at Navy Pier. Pixar Putt is a pop-up mini golf course with each hole themed to a different Pixar or Disney-Pixar animated movie.
This 18-hole mini course will be in its Chicago location until Aug. 21. The golf holes have the following movie themes: “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc.,” “Finding Nemo,” “Coco,” “A Bug’s Life,” “Wall-E,” and “Inside Out.” The “Ratatouille” hole had cheese, forks and other kitchen items as obstacles. The “Up” hole, No. 18, is the best, in my opinion. You hit your ball into the house, which the worker lifts up and moves to a cliff, where the ball falls out toward the hole. I got a hole in one here!
The event is family-friendly, but there are no restrooms. You need to use a restroom across the street at the Navy Pier building.
When you check in at your reserved tee time, you receive your clubs, balls, and score card. The pop-up has limited space, but we were able to park our stroller near the entrance. It took about an hour and a half for my family of four to finish the course.
The girls loved the experience, and I loved that. The prices were a little for my taste, at $30.50 per adult and $25.50 per child over 3. A family pack is $99.
I recommend while you’re down there to make a day of it by doing other activities at the pier.
Be sure to take a photo before you leave, too.
Have you been to Pixar Putt?
