When planning a party, a large part of it will be centered around the food that you are buying or preparing for your guests. I typically plan parties for both of my daughters, and I’ve learned there are various aspects and factors to think about when planning the food for your party.
Homemade food
Do you prefer to make your own food for the event? If you have a passion for cooking, and the time, cooking the party food yourself can be a healthier option for you and your guests. It’s likely more tasty and enjoyable, too.
For birthdays, I sometimes bake the cake myself, even though I am still learning. If you want to make your cake stand out, you can learn how to make fondant at bakingsense.com. You can also decorate the cake with a topper and other cake decorations. Many shops sell edible cake images as well.

Consider allergies
Allergies affect a substantial portion of the population, yet it is still something that a lot of people will forget about when preparing or buying food for others. If you are planning a party where food is going to be available, take a moment to think about who you are inviting and whether they have allergies. If you are not sure, ask your guests to advise you whether they have any allergies, perhaps via the invitation. A few common allergies can be nuts, dairy, shellfish, soy, and even wheat.
If your guests have allergies, consider purchasing food some a place that does not use any of those ingredients.
You can also ask guests whether they are vegan, kosher, halal, dairy-free or vegetarian, for example.
Consider the season
Think about what the weather is doing and how you can complement it when you are planning the food you will serve at your party. If it’s a cold evening, perhaps a soup or stew would be lovely. If it’s hot, think about offering some cool treats.
Last-minute prep
To help save you time, make sure that you prep as much of the food as possible before your party is underway. The earlier and more of it that you can do, the better. You will thank yourself every single time if you make the effort to do this.
Make sure to check pickup times for any food you order, too. Keep food properly stored before the party.
