I recently visited the Titanic Exhibition at Westfield Old Orchard mall in Skokie, Illinois, and unfortunately, my experience was less than first-class. I am someone who loves all things Titanic, but this was underwhelming.
The first issue was the lack of air conditioning, which made the environment uncomfortable and led to my early departure after just 40 minutes. I heard from my neighbor that she heard that had happened before.
The exhibition was filled with various artifacts and recreations of spaces within the ship, but I was disappointed to find that many were not from the Titanic itself, but rather from other ships in the RMS Lines, such as the Olympic. It was unclear — to me — whether certain displays were genuine artifacts or replicas. Some would label dishes, for example, as typical of a first-, second- or third-class diner. But I wasn’t sure if they were from the actual ship.
There were, however, a few displays that stood out, such as the silver medal belonging to a passenger who tragically lost their life on the Titanic.
The Titanic Exhibition also had a few displays from the Titanic movie set, some real and some replicas. This included a script copy and a replica of the necklace Rose wore in the movie.
The exhibition seemed more focused on providing photo opportunities than educational insights. The persistent construction noise throughout the exhibition was another distraction that took away from the immersive experience I expected.

Overall, I was underwhelmed by the Titanic Exhibition at Westfield Old Orchard mall. For those interested in a more authentic and immersive experience, I would recommend seeking out exhibits that house more artifacts from the actual Titanic wreck.
By the way, I paid about $30 for a discounted ticket.
