I took my little one to historic Wagner Farm in Glenview, Illinois, this week to try something new this summer. I knew little about the farm except that admission is free, but I quickly learned it’s a fun, low-cost family-friendly activity in the Chicago area.
The farm is located at 1510 Wagner Road and is part of the Glenview Parks District. Inside the Heritage Center you’ll find museum exhibits about the farm’s past. Besides the exhibits, you can visit the livestock, including chickens and goats. Take a stroll along the gravel paths to say hello to the cows on your way to the play area, which features a playground, farm stand, tire swing, and other play things.

You can also keep strolling over to the actual farming area where many vegetables and fruits are grown. VIsit on Saturdays from June to October to shop the famers market, which is from 8 a.m. to noon.

Heading over for a visit? Park in the parking lot across Wagner from the farm and use the crosswalk to enter the farm. Parties and other events can be hosted at the farm.
