When you have multiple responsibilities, commitments and hobbies, it’s difficult to make time for your mental, emotional and physical well-being. But if you spend multiple hours sitting at a desk or forgoing basic self-care, it’s time to change those habits. I have been trying to take time to incorporate self-care and wellness each day, which is especially important as someone who has worked from home for more than seven years. Join me with these simple tips for taking better care of yourself.
How to incorporate healthy habits during the workday:
Find time for movement
There’s a trend on TikTok of people buying standing desks and under-the-desk treadmills to stay active during the workday. While purchasing these may not be feasible for everyone, finding time to move or walk certainly is. I have been focusing more on getting at least 5,000 steps a day. I know many shoot for 10,000, but if I get anywhere from 5,000-7,000 I am happy with my progress.
Other ways to move: stretching, yoga, roller-skating, bike riding, skateboarding, swimming, and weight lifting.
I have access to home workout equipment, which is nice, but even if you don’t there are free bodyweight exercise you can find online.
Keep water glass on my desk at all times
Drinking enough water is a consistent challenge for me. My goal for each day is keep a cup with water on my desk within easy reach so I remember to drink water. I was someone who tended to say I would grab more water after I do one more task at my computer, but that task would turn into two, then three, and four, and before I knew it I was even more thirsty.
The bigger the glass or water bottle you keep at your desk, the better. Having a cute tumbler to drink out of makes it more fun, too.
Take a women’s daily multivitamin
It’s important to me to take a high-quality women’s supplement. I take Viva Naturals’ Organic Women’s Multivitamin with Probiotics. I like that it boost my energy and supports my digestive health. Plus, as a vegetarian, I look like that Viva Naturals’ women’s multivitamins contain non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, and soy-free ingredients.
I was looking for a women’s multivitamin with iron, and this one fits the bill. I also like that it contains 2,500 mcg of Biotin per serving, which supports my hair, nails and skin.
As with any supplement, check with your doctor to make sure it’s right for you. Try Viva Naturals yourself with my promo code: FLORADISE10. You’ll get 10% off one-time purchases only (excluding subscriptions) until the end of the year.

Do something creative
The chance to be creative is important to me and supports my emotional and mental health. I try to find time to write, film content, or design something on my iPad. I also like to come up with ideas on fun photos to take or things to do in my city.
Rest
Do nothing. It’s the most difficult thing for many people, because we are so used to being productive every minute of the day. But we all need rest. Not taking breaks or finding time to do nothing will ultimately impact our mental health.
Don’t feel guilty when you don’t accomplish anything on your day off. You deserve to rest, too.
