For the longest time I didn’t want to reinvest in my small business because of fear. But I realized that in order to offer higher-quality items I would need to buy a Glowforge. So far I have experimented with the Glowforge Pro and added some items to my Etsy shop. It’s been fun figuring out how to use the Glowforge laser printer and learn what I could create and sell with it. I’m sharing the reasons why I bought a Glowforge for my business.
But first, what is the difference among the Basic, Plus and Pro models? According to Glowforge, the Plus “offers upgraded components and a top speed that’s twice as fast as the Basic.” The Pro, meanwhile, can print larger projects because it has a pass-through slot. Also, it “features upgraded components and increased laser power to print up to three times faster than the Basic, and has double the warranty. Class 4 laser product.” The Basic and Plus are Class 1.
Why I Invested in the Glowforge Pro:
To create wood projects:
My husband and I have always wanted to use wood to create beautiful items, and now we are able to do that. While you can cut with a Cricut, which we have, this is a higher-quality machine that can do so much more.
To expand my product offerings:
Most of my Etsy sales are of cups, and while I enjoy making them, I wanted to offer more variety in my product line.
To be able to expand my capacity to create:
Having more than one machine makes it easier to be able to take on more orders and thus bring in more revenue.
To be able to offer wholesale products:
The Glowforge allows me to create more products in a shorter time and be able to offer wholesale products on Faire. Sign up to sell on Faire through my link.
To enhance my creativity:
I am able to grow my creativity by trying new things and making new items using my Glowforge.
To grow my business:
I am hoping that this investment, which is significant, will grow my business to where I’d like it to be in 2022.
How much does a Glowforge cost? There are three options ranging from $2,995 to $5,995 plus tax. An air filter is an additional $995. You don’t necessarily need the air filter; you can always vent through a window.
