Our first family trip after our vaccinations was to visit family in Denver, North Carolina, which is near Charlotte. We met our baby nephew for the first time and spent lots of time together. We were able to do some family-friendly activities near Denver, North Carolina, that can be done with young kids, so I wanted to share those with you.
Pick strawberries or blackberries at Lineberger’s Farm
We had a blast speed picking berries at Lineberger’s before a storm hit. It was so fun! They allowed us to pick strawberries or blackberries. The girls loved this activity and it was super affordable, at only the cost of the weight of the berries you pick. I believe it was $7 or less. Visit the website for the picking calender.

Visit Jetton Park
Jetton Park has picnic tables, an awesome playground, and a lovely view of the water, though there is no beach access. We enjoyed a family picnic and letting the kids get their energy out at the play area. There’s also a bike trail and walking paths. It’s a nice spot to hang a hammock and relax.

Rent a boat at Lake Norman
This was a more expensive activity but we found an affordable pontoon rental and spent an amazing day on Lake Norman. We swam with our floats, snacked and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Be sure to designate a driver!
The views are gorgeous and some impressive homes are located along the waterfront.
