We visited Santa’s Village Amusement & Water Park in Dundee, Illinois, for the first time this month.
We started our day exploring the amusement park side, which was a delightful experience. The variety of rides catered to various age groups and thrill levels. The rocket ships were a personal favorite, offering a fun and dizzying experience. The Caterpillar roller coaster was a hit with our 6-year-old, providing just the right level of excitement for her age group. We rode it multiple times.
The firetruck ride was another highlight, where we had the chance to put out a fire with small hoses. It was an interactive and engaging ride that we all loved.
For the more adventurous members of our family, the Blizzard was the ride of choice. My 10-year-old and husband braved this ride, which involved spinning while being upside down. I preferred to keep my feet firmly on the ground and enjoyed watching their reactions from a safe distance.
However, our experience at the water park was less enjoyable. The area was crowded, and we struggled to find any available chairs. This was somewhat expected on a hot day, but it did dampen my enthusiasm a bit.
We decided to skip the food at the park. Our friends had kindly bought us guest passes for around $27 each, which saved us some money. It’s worth noting that tickets can’t be purchased at the park; they have to be reserved online in advance.
The park has a policy against bringing in food, with the exception of one snack per person. However, sandwiches are not allowed. Water bottles are permitted, and I noticed a few people carrying Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.
One of the most enjoyable experiences was the North Pole Expedition ride. This cute little journey on a mini Jeep to the North Pole was fun and I appreciated the AC in the indoor portion of the ride.
On the downside, the cleanliness and odor of the bathrooms was not ideal.
Our family day out at Santa’s Village was overall a fun experience. It’s an ideal destination for families with children who aren’t quite tall enough for the rides at Six Flags Great America. We’re already planning our next visit.
