I love finding ways to save money, earn cash back or get gift cards by shopping at my favorite stores. I’m sharing three apps/websites I use to get paid for buying things I already wanted or needed. I know there are many more cash-back and rewards apps or websites out there, but I like to keep it simple by only using a few.
Apps/Sites for Cash Back/Rewards
Drop: When you download the Drop app, you link a credit and/or debit card and then you earn points when you shop with that card. You don’t need to open the Drop app or show it when you make purchases, it is automatically tallied. The app has a retailer section that lists stores or websites offering various point values. Many popular retailers such as Postmates, Walmart and Old Navy are on the app. You can redeem your points for gift cards for places like Starbucks and Walmart. I’ve earned many $5-$10 Starbucks cards since downloading the app. If you use my code, stit3, you can get $5 in Drop points when you link your first card.
Rakuten: Formerly Ebates, this tool lets you earn cash back when you shop at your favorite stores. I added the browswer plugin that comes up whenever a website I am shopping offers a cash back deal. I have acrued the most money by using Rakuten when booking hotels. I look at which hotel site is offering the most cash back and book the hotel through them since most hotels are offered on all the various travel booking sites. On our recent trip to Louisville, I earned more than $30 cash back on our hotel booking. You can also earn cash back in stores at certain retailers. I’ve acrued more than $425 since I joined and the money you earn back is paid quarterly. You earn bonuses when you refer people with your link. When you join with my referral link, you get a $10 welcome bonus.
Swagbucks: I don’t use Swagbucks as much as the others because it requires time, but you can earn points for doing tasks such as taking surveys or watching videos. You also get cash back by shopping. You can redeem your points for gift cards from many retailers. If you find yourself bored, this could be a way to pass the time that pays off.
Another app/website is Ibotta, although I have not tried it yet. Have you used it or another of the three apps I listed above?
