My baby turns 1 today. I’ve been an emotional wreck lately ever since it hit me that Addi’s birthday was approaching. This past year has been life-changing for all of us, in the best way. We all adore Adelina and she has been the perfect addition to our family. It’s been four months since I shared a baby update, so here’s what this little miss has been up to lately. This will likely be the last baby update; I don’t do regular updates for V, my almost-5-year-old.
Sleep: On most nights she sleeps from 7 p.m. to at least 5 a.m., sometimes 6. She goes back to sleep after a quick feed until about 7 or 7:30 a.m. We’ve had many struggles throughout the first year with sleep. She has not been the best sleeper in the world but she seems to be doing well now; we have had periods of constant wakeups and colds and teething. I’ve always told myself I will miss holding her in the middle of the night and I am sure that is true.
Feeding: She pretty much eats what we eat unless it’s something spicy. I also usually top her off with a puree pouch because a lot of her food ends up on the floor. She is still nursing a few times a day along with drinking formula until her pediatrician advises us to switch to milk. Our family doesn’t drink cow’s milk, though, so I need direction on what to give her.
Stats: She weighs 20 pounds, 14 ounces and measures 29.5 inches long/tall. She wears Size 12-18 month clothes and Size 4 diapers. She is in the 75th percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height. She is in the 90th percentile for her head circumference.
Milestones:
She started pulling herself up at about 9 months and was standing on her own for several seconds by 10 months. She was also taking single steps at 10 months. She would hold onto furniture and take side steps until she was 11 months, when she began taking multiple steps on her own. Now she walks frequently, though she’s super wobbly. She improves every day.
She didn’t get teeth until about 9 months, when her bottom two teeth came in. Now she also has four on top. They came around 9-10 months. She loves it when we brush her teeth.
She waves and says bye-bye.
She is learning to blow kisses.
She’s taking swim classes and learned to blow bubbles in the water.
She says Mama and Dadda and papa (our word for food).
She had sweets for the first time at her birthday party.
She’s constantly pointing at things at babbling.
I’m so proud of her and I know her big sister and day adore her, too. As sad as I am that she’s not a baby anymore, I’m so glad to not take milestone photos on this blanket anymore, because she does not stay still AT ALL. It’s always been a workout. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be bawling all day long.
