I took my girls to Brookfield Zoo for the first time in 2023. It’s spring break and I was hoping for a sunny day to stroll around the zoo. Luckily for us, we got just that.
Many of the animal habitats are being renovated right now, but we still saw a lot of animal activity.
We watched a camel play with a ball.

We saw the reptiles be active rather than sleeping in the Australia building. We watched the sloth bear pace back and forth.

We said hello to the penguins.
We heard the lions roar.
And we saw the new silverback gorilla, Jontu, for the first time as he adjusts to his habitat.

We were happy to see that the gorillas will have a new outdoor habitat when construction is complete in 2025.

Tropic World is being renovated as well. The entrance is in a different location than usual. Parts of Tropic World might be closed in Asia to allow the 26-year-old Jontu to adapt.

The adorable sloth hung out on a tree.

The dolphin show was closed because their aquarium was also being updated. The tram was not running, and many of the snack booths were closed.
As usual, we love to admire the peacocks who roam around the zoo.

For the first time, we visited the macaws and birds.

I’m so grateful to have had a day off to enjoy the sunshine with my girls.
