I recently came across a Kickstarter campaign that I wanted to support because it encourages kids to go for their dreams. The company behind it is Annie the Brave, and it was founded by Chelsea Coulston. According to the website, Annie the Brave is a brand that “encourages girls to engage their interest in STEM through a line of whimsical, STEM-inspired dresses.” During that Kickstarter, 277 backers pledged $14,004 to help bring the project to life. I was one of them.
I ordered a dress for 5-year-old V from the Kickstarter, and it came with an enamel pin. I chose the astronaut print because I rarely, if ever, see dresses with that kind of design in the girls section. I think V might have preferred the pink Little Scientist print, which I may order at some point. The other print option was a light blue Under the Sea design. Each dress now costs $35 on the website, but I paid $36 including shipping during the Kickstart for the dress, an enamel pin and a downloadable paper doll. This price is more than I typically spend for a clothing item for V, but I figured I could pass it down to her little sister later on, and I hope it will last that long. So far I have not had any issues with the fabric after washing.

The Annie the Brave dresses come in sizes 2T-5T and 6, 7, 8. The fabric is soft and V seems to be comfortable playing in her dress. I do wish there was a dinosaur print available, because V loves them, too!
